Welcome to the Museum House! The museum was opened to the public in July of 1998 with the purpose of preserving the heritage of both the Capreol Community, as well as Northeastern Ontario and the industries and development that made these communities possible.

The museum house was originally built in 1916 and was used to house the Canadian Northern (now Canadian National) Superintendents and their families. It was one of the first houses, as well as the biggest and most fashionable built in the newly established town of Capreol.

In 1997 the house was purchased by the town of Capreol to be used as a museum, and between 1997 and its opening in 1998 the house was majorly renovated by volunteers so that it could serve as a museum. It now features exhibitions on railroading history, lumber history, mining history, and Northeastern Ontario History.
